Periodontics

6The main cause of periodontal disease (gingival inflammation) is the bacterial plaque formation which is accumulated on the teeth surface and their roots. Without the proper hygiene over time plaque, mineralization occurs with the formation of supra- and subgingival deposits (calculus). Bacterial deposits and their metabolic products contribute to the development of inflammatory reactions in the oral cavity. During a certain time period redness, swelling of the gum and gingival bleeding occurs. Without the treatment this process leads to an inflammation of the periodontal surrounding of the tooth root, resulting in the destruction and subsequent periodontal ligament and alveolar bone tissue loss. The absence of supporting periodontal tissue and the loss of alveolar bone tissue lead to teeth movement and even teeth loss.

Periodontitis symptoms:

  • Gingival bleeding during food intakes or gum touch
  • Swollen and sensitive gums
  • Bad breath and unpleasant taste in the mouth
  • Exposed necks of teeth, sensitive teeth, gingival recession
